Initial construction work of the overpass over Redondel Utila
The Minister of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez Herrera, supervised today the initial construction works of the overpass over Redondel Utila, Santa Tecla, which is the first in execution of a total of seven to be built in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (AMSS).
“We have already started with the preliminary works. The investment in construction of the work is US$ 5.8 million, plus a supervision that amounts to US$ 443,000, which makes a total of US$ 6.3 million if we add both, "said the official.
Currently, work is carried out at night on relocation tasks of a rainwater collector, from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. This relocation of the pipes will take place from January 4 to 11, 2022.
While these tasks are being carried out, the vehicular circulation of people who drive from the South Boulevard to San Salvador has been reoriented, who have to go down the street that leads to the Port of La Libertad and return in front of the La Joya Shopping Center.
"While the Salvadoran population is resting at home, we are going to be doing all the necessary preliminary work, and then we are going to communicate the different vehicle reorientations that we are going to have to take as part of the construction of the work," he said.
The work, according to the Minister, will generate more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and other important benefits, especially for those traveling to the Port of La Libertad.
“With this great work, it is going to benefit thousands of citizens who transit from San Salvador and who go to the highway to the Port or who visit the beaches of La Libertad, or go to Zaragoza or San José Villanueva, Nuevo Cuscatlán, or other neighboring sectors ”, he added.
A daily average of 8,000 vehicles travel through the area where this new overpass is being built, which will benefit from a two-lane crossing that will guarantee greater circulation from San Salvador to the Highway to the Port of La Libertad.
"The idea with this overpass is to avoid the congestion that occurs in the sector and guarantee a more agile and safer traffic flow for the population to the Port of La Libertad," he added.
With this work, the Government of President Nayib Bukele, through the MOP and FOVIAL, seeks to distribute the traffic that travels in a North-South direction and vice versa, saving time and fuel.
“This overpass consists of the construction of two lanes in the north-south direction of the Utila ring road and it will connect both ends with two ramps, one up and one down, it will have four piers; two intermediate and two lateral piles ”, he added.
