More than $ 1,400 million in foreign exchange for tourism

The Government of President Nayib Bukele plans to close 2021 with 1.3 million foreign visitors, which would generate income for the country in terms of tourism in excess of $ 1.4 billion, ratifying its route to the recovery of the sector. 

Regarding internal tourism, that is, the trips of Salvadorans within the territory, the president of the Salvadoran Tourism Institute, Eny Aguiñada, assured that she hopes to close the year with 9.2 million trips, reaching an economic mobility of $ 295 million.  

Regarding recreational parks, he highlighted that it is expected to close the year with 1.7 million visitors, generating more than $ 2 million in economic income.

The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, explained that the good results of the country are due to the coordinated work with the institutions of the Tourism Cabinet of the Government of President Bukele. To this is added, the positive results obtained by the good management of the pandemic, as well as the development of the surfing world championship and events of the launch of the cryptocurrency have motivated tourist trips to El Salvador.

Regarding infrastructure projects, the headlines highlighted the remodeling of the Los Chorros recreational park, which was carried out in a record time of 18 months, as well as the opening of the Walter Thilo Deininger Surf City Adventure Park.

He stressed that the recovery of tourism is reflected in reports from international entities, for example, the recent publication of ParkSleepFly, a company that offers accommodation and transportation packages for different destinations worldwide, highlighted that El Salvador became one of the tourist destinations that more grows in popularity among Americans.

The tourism projections for 2022, more than 1.8 million visitors and $ 1.6 billion are expected, which will represent a growth of 15%. In domestic tourism, Salvadorans are expected to make 9.5 million trips, boosting the local economy by $ 313 million.
